Absolutely – so please read on. When Latisse is correctly used, within 2-4 months of starting this medication you will have lush fabulous lashes. So how is this possible?
The medication in Latisse is and was first developed for glaucoma patients because it lowers the pressure in your eyes. Serendipitously, it was noted that one of the “side effects” noticed in the glaucoma patients was especially lush, long, thick, dark eyelashes. Brilliantly, the medicine was FDA approved and patented for this indication – and hello Latisse.
A recent study revealed excellent results and few side effects when Latisse was applied to the upper lashes with treated subjects showing increased eyelash length after 16 weeks of therapy. So again, yes the medication truly works but there are side effects to be aware of including possible inflammation and/or redness lasting days to weeks, eyelid skin discoloration, changes to the color (iris) of your eyes (potentially darkening), and of course, decreased eye pressure. Dr. Bassichis is one of the top prescribing physicians for this medication, but the key is to educate our patients to apply it correctly and safely. As such, the following are some words of advice.
With Latisse, it is going to take 2-4 months to see your result. So BE PATIENT. And remember LESS IS MORE. Apply only 1-2 drops on the applicator for each eye. More will not achieve better results, but will probably cause you more side effects. If you do have any problems or side effects, switch to every other night, contact your physician, or some people choose to stop the medication. If you cease by choice or because you run out, be calmed that your lovely lashes will not fall out just simply slowly revert to your pre-Latisse baseline. Also, remember the medication is FDA approved for upper eyelashes only. And most importantly, enjoy your long gorgeous lashes.
One additional note of caution: buying drugs online without a prescription can be risky, so make sure you go to a reputable pharmacist – because these are YOUR EYES we are talking about!
Beautifully yours,
